"The sorcerers":

Variety Magazine interviewed Professor Christopher Murray about his new film.

"The Sorcerers" is a new movie by Christopher Murray, Communications Faculty Professor. He has been working on this film, set on an island in the south of Chile.

Christopher Murray is an Audiovisual Director who graduated from the Faculty of Communication of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He's also a professor in the same faculty and General Director of MAFI (Spanish acronym for Filmic Map of a Country). MAFI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the documentary registry to contribute to Chile's audiovisual heritage and promote reflection based on images.

Murray has directed documentary films such as "Dios y Propaganda" and fiction films like "Manuel De Ribera" and "El Cristo Ciego."

But now, he's turning towards fiction.
The director is working on a new movie called "The Sorcerers" produced by Chile's Oscar-winning producers, Fabula Films

The movie is set on the island of Chiloé in the late 19th century. It tells the story of Rosa Raín, an 11-year-old indigenous girl who lives with her father on a German settler farm until, one day, tragedy strikes. She starts to seek revenge, helped by an organization of sorcerers.

We want to share with you an interview that Christopher Vourlias, from Variety Magazine, did with Christopher Murray. They talk about:

  • His inspiration to make this film.
  • His investigative process.
  • And how this story is related to Chile's current constitutional movement.

Enjoy!
